The research will focus on thermal–mechanical–durability coupled performance and control technologies; performance enhancement of sintered wall materials; performance enhancement of non-sintered wall materials; performance improvement of nano phase-change materials; green preparation processes and equipment for energy-saving wall materials; and the R&D of integrated modular components and their manufacturing processes and equipment. ![]() Representatives participating in the project discussion
This sub-topic is part of the National Key R&D Program project “Key Technologies for Improving the Performance of Building Envelope Materials and Applications.” The project is led by CSCEC Eighth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., with Prof. Zhang Xiong of Tongji University as the project chief. The kick-off meeting was held on September 29, 2016, in Yangpu District, Shanghai.
Deputy Director Wang Hao of the CSCEC Eighth Bureau Engineering Research Institute chaired the project kick-off meeting
Leaders and representatives from CSCEC and CSCEC Eighth Bureau, together with representatives from 26 participating organizations—about 80 people in total—attended the kick-off meeting. ![]()
Project chief, Prof. Zhang Xiong of Tongji University, presented an overview of the project on behalf of the team
This R&D project is oriented toward the development of green building materials, focusing on improving the performance of building envelope materials through in-depth research on key technologies. It aims to advance the greening and industrialization of building envelopes and address issues such as scientific design theories for safety and durability, thermal performance improvement, and modularization of envelope components. The project conducts research in eight areas: coordinated design theories and methods for durability and functionality of envelope materials; modularization of energy-saving wall materials; super-insulating thermal materials; insulating and vacuum glazing; spontaneous breakage of tempered glass curtain walls; performance of doors and windows; roof performance; and integrated system technologies for building envelope structures. In addition to discussing project implementation, financial experts were specially invited to provide dedicated training for finance personnel from participating organizations.
The seven experts attending the meeting offered valuable and pertinent suggestions on the project's implementation and progress.
